Esther V. Hoefs

Esther V. Hoefs, 95, passed away April, 5 2026, at the Good Samaritan Home, in Rapid City, SD.
    Esther was born to Emma (Werning) and William Harnisch on June 4, 1930, and grew up on the family farm outside of Wall, SD. She attended grade school at Lake Hill Township and later graduated from Wall High School in 1944.
    On June 24, 1950, Esther married Elry Hoefs in Wall, SD, and to this union their daughter Debra was born in 1952. Esther and Elry shared their lives together in Wall until Elry retired, and then the couple moved to Rapid City to enjoy their retirement years.
    Esther moved to the Good Samaritan Home after Elry’s death in 2021.
    Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Steve) Deal of Wall, SD; her grandchildren, Crystal Deal of Box Elder, SD, and Craig (Sarah) Deal of Smithfield, UT; her great grandchildren, Logan and Harper Deal of Smithfield, UT; her sister Mildred Harnisch of Philip, SD, her sister-in-law Yvonne Harnisch of Fridley, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
    A celebration of Esther's life will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 10th, at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD. Following the service and light refreshments, Esther will be laid to rest at Black Hills National Cemetery at 3 p.m. Condolences and memorials may be sent to Kirk Funeral Home.
