McCOLEMAN, MARY M. (née Lehr) of Waterford, passed away October 9, 2025 at 74 years of age. Mary attended school in Murdo, South Dakota and graduated from Murdo High School in 1969. She attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1973 with a BSN (RN).
She worked as an ICU nurse for nearly 38 years and then worked in home health for the next seven years. From 2013 until 2023, Mary taught Sunday School to preschoolers at St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester. During that same time, she volunteered to make a monthly dinner for Family of God Church in the west side of Detroit. In 2013, Mary volunteered to be the manager of the Father Hands Food Bank at St. Paul Community Lutheran Church in Pontiac.
In 2018, Mary retired from home health and did volunteer work as the parish nurse for St. Paul Lutheran Church. She married Michael McColeman in Rapid City, South Dakota on June 26, 1982. He was in the U.S. Air Force and she followed him to every station until he retired in 1992 in Marquette, Michigan. In June of 1995 they moved to Waterford, Michigan. They have two sons; Patrick of Waterford (39) and Nicholas of Iron Mountain (36), and two grandchildren. Celebration of Mary’s life was held Saturday, October 18, 2025. Visitation was at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Children Sunday School.
